American Legion Auxiliary Recognizes Young Writers

Last week, the local winners of the American Legion Auxiliary Poetry and Essay contests were guests of ALA Unit 80 for supper and awards for the top three in each class. The winners each read their papers. The first-place winner’s paper in each class goes on to the district competition.

Last week, the local winners of the American Legion Auxiliary Poetry and Essay contests were guests of ALA Unit 80 for supper and awards for the top three in each class. The winners each read their papers. The first-place winner’s paper in each class goes on to the district competition.

The theme of this year’s essay is: “What does Patriotism mean to you?” The theme for the poetry contest is: “Thanking our Veterans for our Freedom”.

Winners in Poetry are: Class II – 1st Grace Folkman, 2nd Cecily Todin, 3rd Reagan Hastings. Class III -1st Lily Mundt, 2nd Lillian Boyko, 3rd Kye Larson.

Winners in Essay are: Class I – 1st Gabrielle Taylor, 2nd Issac Richter, 3rd Cullen Peters. Class III – 1st Mataya Knecht. 2nd Megan Vietor, 3rd Emily Effling. Class IV1st Ava Teveldal, 2nd Eboni Jackson, 3rd Taryn Kraft.

Class V – 1st Bodell Davidson, 2nd McKaelyn Zuelke,3rdEvelynnTschappat. Class VI – 1st Elijah Sidoti, 2nd D’Markus Goedert, 3rd Olivia Good-Morrel.
