Preliminary crash information indicates that a 2019 GMC Sierra pickup driven by Krafka was eastbound on South Dakota Highway 10 when it entered the westbound lane and collided head-on with a westbound 2011 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Roerig.

Krafka was pronounced dead at the scene. Roerig sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to an Aberdeen hospital. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.

That portion of South Dakota Highway 10 was closed to traffic for about five hours. South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
