What’s it like being a mom of three so far? Well, it’s definitely more chaotic, but of course, it’s also more fun!
One thing I’ve noticed about myself is that I’m slowly giving the girls more freedom because I have my hands full. Normally, I wouldn’t let them run outside without me, but now, when they want to play, they ask and then take off for the swing set in the backyard while I hold their little brother from the porch.
One thing I didn’t anticipate, though, was all the fighting! I thought they would be more needy for attention, but instead of jumping all over me, they’re jumping down each other’s throats!
“Mom!!! Violet’s picking on me!!”
“Mom!! Autumn kicked me in the head!”
Lord, girls. It’s hard to break up a little kitten fight when you have an even smaller kitten in your arms.
But aside from the new sister wars, things have been going pretty well with little man in the house. When people ask me how it’s going, the first thing that comes to mind is that it’s easier when you’ve already had two kids at once. Now, there’s a lot less to handle all at once. Of course, having a great partner to help is always a bonus!
Mornings consist of running around like chickens with our heads cut off, but Chase and I work well together. While one of us is looking for socks, the other is brushing hair. While one gets the girls’ cereal, the other is feeding the baby. Just a simple glance between us, and we’re in go mode without even saying a word. It makes me feel like we’re superparents.
As we get into the car, we kiss, high-five, and take a breath because we made it through the morning routine. Three kids in the car, everyone has shoes and has been fed, and we’re only ten minutes late. Momma can handle this!
I do have to say, though, that I’m proud of myself. Going out and doing things with three kids isn’t an easy task, but I’ve learned that the more I do it, the easier it gets. I might be filled with anxiety from being in go mode all day, but we make it through, and the kids have fun along the way.
