Fort Sisseton Historic State Park will host its annual Haunted Fort Oct. 16-17, featuring spooky nighttime attractions and family-friendly Halloween activities Saturday afternoon.
The scary Haunted Fort will run from 7 to 11 p.m. both Friday and Saturday, with visitors required to be in line by 10:45 p.m. to enter the haunted maze. Admission is $5 per person.
Visitors can explore decorated historic buildings, vote for their favorite decorations with loose change, take a hayrack ride, listen to ghost stories around a campfire and enjoy Halloween-themed concessions. New this year is a nighttime zombie scavenger hunt with prizes.
Firepit rentals are available for $40 and include two bundles of wood and a picnic table. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 605-910-4465.
A non-scary event for children and families will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17. Activities include trick-or-treating through decorated buildings, crafts, Halloween stories, wagon rides and concessions. The haunted maze will also be open with the lights on and no people jumping out. Admission is $5 per child, including one adult, with additional adults charged $5 each.
All proceeds from the events will support restoration and other projects at the park through the Fort Sisseton Commission.
