The Langford Area volleyball squad rolled to a straight set victory over Tiospa Zina last week Tuesday but Ipswich swept the Lady Lions on Thursday.
Coach Susan Larson’s club took a 10-6 record into a match at Faulkton last night Tuesday. This week LA meets Waubay-Summit at Waubay on Thursday, travels to Wilmot on Monday, and Sisseton comes to town on Tuesday.

Langford Area trounced Tiospa Zina in straight sets.
The Lady Lions had 17 service aces, led by Emily Olson with five. Lizzie Gustafson had five of her team’s 18 kills and Brooke Dwight added four.
“We had the opportunity to play a lot of girls,” said Larson. “The team stayed focused and adjusted well as the night went on. We still have work to do, and I don’t feel as though we have peaked yet. We have a tough schedule ahead of us, but I feel as though the girls are looking forward to the challenges.”

Ipswich won a couple of close sets to sweep Langford Area.
Lizzie Gustafson paced the Lady Lions with a pair of aces, six kills, and 20 digs.
“We just seemed out of synch and out of rhythm,” noted Larson. “We definitely had moments when things looked like they were coming together, but we just couldn’t hang onto the momentum. I thought Alex played a really good game. She seemed to be the spark plug on the court.
“The third set was an exciting battle but we just couldn’t pull out a win,” Larson added. “Despite the struggle, the team hung with it and played better as the night progressed. This will be another game we wish we had back.”
