The Langford Area volleyball squad was at the top of its game for the homecoming match last week Tuesday, sweeping North Central 25-17, 25-19, 25-17.
The win boosted the Lady Lions to 9-5 for the season heading into a home match with Tiospa Zina last night Tuesday. LA travels to Ipswich on Thursday and Faulkton on Tuesday.
“The ladies played a great game on Tuesday,” said Larson. “I was worried about them being tired because this was their eighth game in seven days but they showed up ready to go. They stayed focused and energized for all three sets.
“The setters did a great job of moving the ball around to different hitters, which means our passers did their job. Our hitters had a few errors but they didn’t let that frazzle them. They played aggressive offense all night. Our defense was super scrappy and it was a really fun game to watch. I’m really proud of their effort.”
Lizzie Gustafson led the Lions at the net with nine kills and three blocks and added 15 digs and a pair of service aces. Emily Olson had 22 digs and was 21-21 at the service line with two aces while Brooklynn West hit 10-10 serves with three aces and had 10 assists. Josie Jensen contributed four blocks.
