Britton-Hecla Homecoming will be celebrated next week with a “Decades” theme and a full schedule of dress-up days, athletic events and other activities.
Homecoming King and Queen candidates are Mataya Knecht, daughter of Troy and Katrina Knecht; Maddi Micko, daughter of Aaron and Sandi Micko; Daynika Zuehlke, daughter of Brian and Jill Zuehlke; Carter Chapin, son of Chad and Joyce Chapin; Graham Fosness, son of Nick and Jenny Fosness; and Jace Rein, son of Tony Tillma and Samantha Rein.
The King and Queen will be crowned Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. at the tennis court.
Students will celebrate the theme throughout the week with the following dress-up days:
Monday: Decade Day for all grades. Tuesday: Middle and high school students will participate in Meme Day, while elementary students will celebrate Class Color Day. Kindergarten students will wear white, first grade black, second grade green, third grade yellow or orange, fourth grade blue and fifth grade pink or purple. Wednesday: Middle and high school students will dress for Blue Collar vs. White Collar, while elementary students will celebrate Career Day. Thursday: Middle and high school students will participate in Dress Your Age, while elementary students will wear pajamas. Friday: Red and White Day for all grades.
Homecoming athletic events at home will include volleyball Thursday evening against Redfield and football Friday evening against Great Plains Lutheran.
The Britton-Hecla Homecoming Parade will be held Friday, Sept. 18, beginning at 1 p.m. Entries should line up on Fifth Street near Ninth Avenue by 12:45 p.m. The parade will travel south on Main Street to Vander Horck Avenue, west to 13th Avenue, then north before disbanding. Participants will sign a school release waiver as they pass Fifth Street and Main Avenue.
