The Langford Area volleyball squad split a pair of matches in the past week and stands at 4-2 on the season.
LA dropped a straight-set decision to Northwestern on Thursday and swept Leola-Frederick last week Tuesday.
Coach Susan Larson’s squad played at Aberdeen Christian last night Tuesday and has a busy week ahead.  The Lady Lions play at Florence-Henry on Thursday, compete in the Wolsey-Wessington tournament in Wolsey on Saturday, host Britton-Hecla on Monday, and North Central comes to town on Tuesday.

Langford Area put up a battle but perennial power Northwestern managed a sweep over the Lady Lions.
Bailey Dwight led the way at the service line with four aces and added six assists and Lizzie Gustafson pounded down five kills and had 15 digs.
“We played three good sets against Northwestern,” said Larson.  “We got better as the night wore on and I’m really proud of how the girls battled and made adjustments. They were able to adjust to a faster pace. It’s always fun to be challenged and I like how they stepped up. We didn’t get a win but I hope it raised some of our confidence levels and was a fun night of volleyball.”

Langford Area prevailed in a tight opening set and then rolled to a sweep over Leola-Frederick.
“Great matches last night with the JV also winning 25-18, 26-24,” said Larson.  “We had an outstanding serving night - aggressive and consistent.  Brooke Dwight has a really aggressive serve and served really well.  We were also able to run a more aggressive offense and the girls hit pretty well with Lizzie Gustafson having a really great night at the net with 11 kills.”
Dwight hit 20-21 service attempts and had six aces, while Gustafson was a perfect 28-28 at the net with her 11 kills.  Brooklynn West added 16 assists and Alex Darling 15 digs.

Poll: END OR RETAIN EXPANDED MEDICAID COVERAGE? South Dakota voters will decide in November on a proposed constitutional amendment that would end the state’s expanded Medicaid coverage if the federal government’s share of funding for the expansion falls below 90%. The expansion, approved by voters in 2022, provides Medicaid eligibility to certain adults ages 19 to 64 with incomes up to the federal limit established by the constitutional amendment. The proposed amendment would remove that expanded coverage if the federal funding level drops below 90%. If the election were held today, how would you vote?
