Marshall County 4-Hers competed at the South Dakota 4-H Finals Rodeo held Thursday through Sunday in Fort Pierre, with several local competitors earning recognition in their events.
Lily Mundt had a strong showing in her first year competing in the senior division. Mundt earned the opportunity to compete for the state 4-H Rodeo Ambassadorship after winning the Hub Area 4-H Rodeo Ambassadorship in July in Aberdeen. At the state finals, she was named first runner-up for the State 4-H Rodeo Ambassadorship.
Mundt also qualified to compete in senior barrel racing. She recorded two clean runs at the state finals, finishing her first year in the senior division on a positive note.
Kaylee Carlson competed in senior barrel racing and senior pole bending at the state finals.
Rylan Carlson competed in junior boys breakaway roping, where he finished as the State Reserve Champion. He also competed in junior team roping, boys flag race and boys goat tying.
The state finals gave Marshall County 4-H competitors an opportunity to compete against top 4-H rodeo participants from across South Dakota.
