Britton’s annual Harvest Days celebration returns this weekend, Aug. 7-9, bringing three days of family fun, community traditions and several new attractions under this year’s theme, “Family Vacation.”
The weekend begins Friday with one of Harvest Days’ signature events, the annual parade at 5:15 p.m., as colorful entries make their way down Main Street. Following the parade, the celebration continues with a community meal, cornhole tournament, dunk tank and live music from Totally Rad.
Several new events debut Friday evening, including Glow Night at the Britton Pool, where swimmers can enjoy an evening swim with glow sticks while supporting the Pool Revitalization Project. A new Hang On To Win bar hanging competition on Main Street will challenge participants to see who can hang on for a minute for a cash prize. Returning again are the community fireworks display at dusk east of the baseball complex, and puzzle lovers can also take part in a new puzzle competition at First Lutheran Church Friday evening.
Saturday offers a full day of activities from morning through midnight. Longtime favorites including the Harvest Days Road Race, Lions Pancake Feed, sand volleyball tournament, inflatables, Kids Zone, food vendors, free swimming, coin dive, family movie, rib cook-off and car show all return.
Among the new attractions are a petting zoo, the Hurley Ag Olympics, and “Don’t Thump Your Melon,” a bicycle safety course for children hosted by Marshall County Healthcare Center. Another round of the Hang On To Win contest will also be held Saturday afternoon. Shoppers will also notice the Vendor Fair has moved to Fun After Fifty, giving vendors a new indoor location.
Saturday night wraps up with one of the weekend’s biggest draws as Johnny Holm Band takes the Main Street stage from 8:30 p.m. until midnight.
Harvest Days concludes Sunday with a community worship service at Pool Park, a community meal hosted by the Friends of the Britton Public Library and the popular Dog Day at the Pool.
With a mix of new attractions and longtime traditions, Harvest Days continues to offer something for all ages.
