Area residents will have several opportunities to enjoy a free performance of “Pete the Cat” as Aberdeen’s Storybook Land Theatre takes its annual touring production to northeastern South Dakota in August.
The touring cast will perform at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, at the ballfield in Eden, 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 9, at the Park of the Pines in Langford, and 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10, at the Veblen Community Center. The tour will also stop in Oakes, N.D., on Aug. 11. Make sure to bring a chair or a blanket to enjoy the show.
Based on the popular children’s book series by Kimberly and James Dean, Pete the Cat follows the adventures of the guitar-playing blue cat as he helps a young boy discover creativity and confidence through music, friendship and imagination.
Now in its 38th season, Storybook Land Theatre is a program of Aberdeen Parks, Recreation and Forestry and is co-sponsored by Aberdeen Community Theatre’s Young People’s Theatre. The company has been taking its productions on the road since 2018, bringing free, family-friendly performances to communities throughout the region.
