U12 GIRLS GET REGION WINS
The Britton U12 softball team wrapped up its season at the Northern Plains Regional Tournament on Saturday, winning two of four contests. Members of the squad are Tinley Beck, front.     The Britton U12 softball team wrapped up its season on Saturday in the Northern Plains Regional Tournament and won two of four games in the double elimination event.
    The local nine lost its opener to Ipswich 13-11and battled back through the loser’s bracket with wins over Miller 18-10 and Orient 8-7 before falling to eventual champion Redfield 14-6.

    Britton started fast with a three-run first innings but Ipswich answered with five runs in the bottom of the first, five more in the second, and three in the third to lead 13-6.  The local nine mounted a furious rally, scoring five tallies in the fourth to fall just short.
    Sage Phillips rapped two singles and Lenyx Jones, Olivia Effling, Grace Folkman, Jaelyn Heitmann, Tinley Beck, and Reagan Hastings each had base hits.  Rosalyn Rapkoch and Phillips teamed up on the mound.

    Britton erupted for five runs in three straight innings to roll past Miller in a game that featured 28 runs on 29 hits.
    Jones doubled and singled twice and Alayah Krutsinger, Effling, Claire Rabenberg, and Adalyn Kanizar each singled twice to lead Britton’s 16-hit attack.  Emersyn Eimers added a double, and Rapkoch, Ayla Sasker, Beck, and Heitmann all had base hits.  Jones went the distance on the mound.

Orient 7
    Britton had its back against a wall, trailing 7-5 heading into the final inning, but rallied for three runs for the walk-off win despite being out-hit 14-7.  Rapkoch drew a walk with bases loaded to score the game-winner.
    Phillips and Effling both came up with a pair of singles and Krutsinger, Hastings, and Heitmann added base hits to fuel the win.  Jones went the distance and picked up the pitching victory.

    Redfield exploded for five runs in both the first and second innings on the way to eliminating Britton.  The local nine rallied with a five-run frame of its own in the second to trail 10-6 but Redfield put the game away with four more tallies in the third.
    Rapkoch, Phillips, Hastings, and Effling each singled.
