The Britton varsity squad blanked Webster and the junior varsity split twin bills with Webster and Sisseton in Lumberjack baseball action during the past week.
Britton Varsity 5
Webster 0
Britton boosted its 2-0 lead to 5-0 with a three-run fourth inning rally before the contest was cut short by rain in the scheduled doubleheader.
Nathan Folkman laced a double and single and had two RBI’s to lead the Jacks’ attack. Chaz Vietor tripled and Ben Suther and Jack Teveldal each singled. Lincoln Kilker went the distance on the mound, allowing just two hits and fanning three.
Britton JV 5-12
Webster 6-0
Britton took a 5-2 lead into the final inning of the opener before Webster pushed across four tallies for the win, but the Jacks turned the tables in the nightcap, allowing just one hit and playing errorless ball in the field on the way to a 12-0 shutout.
Max Suther tripled and Levi Mills and Drew Heitmann added base hits in the opener. Luke Bosse pitched the first four innings, allowing just one hit, and striking out three, and Maverick Strong was tagged with the loss in relief.
In game two Britton took a 5-0 lead in the second frame and them decided the issue with a seven-run fourth. Bosse laced two singles and had two RBI’s, Isaac Richter and Joseph O’Brien each singled twice, Mills laced a single and knocked in two runs, and Heitmann and Henry Kilker rapped safeties. Heitmann went the distance on the mound, fanning 10 batters, walking just one, and allowing one hit.
Britton JV 4-13
Sisseton 8-7
Sisseton put together back-to-back three-run innings in the fifth and sixth to hold off Britton in the opener and the local nine used an 11-run third frame in the nightcap to earn the split.
Max Suther doubled, singled, and had two RBI’s in game one. Jacob Folkman, Henry Kilker, and Strong added safeties. Isaac Richter hurled the first five innings, fanning five.
In game two Britton out-hit Sisseton 8-6 and took advantage of nine walks and three errors. Liam Peters had two base hits, Bosse, Richter, Mills, Suther, Cullen Peters, and Jackson Medhaug singled, and Blayden Downs had two RBI’s. Suther picked up the pitching win with two innings of relief help from Joseph O’Brien.
