LEE EARNS SPOT ON FIRST TRACK ALL-STATE SQUAD
Britton-Hecla graduated senior Abby Lee has earned a spot on the first South Dakota All-State Track & Field Team designed to recognize the top performances from across all three classes in the state. She was second in Class B in the triple jump at the state meet and ranked fifth among all three classes in the state. Lee also broke a 33-year-old school record in the event.

Britton-Hecla senior Abby Lee has earned a spot on the first South Dakota All-State Track & Field Team designed to recognize the top performances from across all three classes in the state.
Lee’s 36-11.5 effort in the triple jump at the state meet placed second in Class B and ranked fifth among all jumpers from the Class AA, Class A, and Class B ranks that competed in the state event.
The top five triple jumpers in the state were senior Aesia Aldridge of Harrisburg, 38-1.25; senior Kadance Coughlin of Brandon Valley, 37-8.75; senior Claire Munch of Dakota Valley, 37-3.5; junior Quinn Brinkman of Yankton, 37-0.5; and Lee.
To determine the All-State Team the final results from all three state meets were combined and the top eight performances in each event, regardless of classification, were named to the honor team. Selections are based strictly on performance marks, not on places within a classification. As a result, one classification may have all eight All-State selections in an event, while other events may feature athletes from all three classes.
This is the inaugural year of the South Dakota All-State Track & Field Team presented by the South Dakota Cross Country and Track & Field Coaches Association.
