U12 NINE SPLITS SIX TILTS

    The Britton U12 baseball team split six recent contests.
    The local nine took the opener with the Aberdeen Smittys sixth grade travel team last week Tuesday 11-10 but dropped the nightcap 15-6, lost two games in the Bring the Heat Classic in Britton a week ago Saturday to Sisseton 10-0 and Clark 8-4, and swept a twin bill with Sisseton a week ago Thursday 13-1, 9-0.

Britton 11-6
Aberdeen 10-15
    Britton rallied from a 10-7 deficit with a four-run rally in the final inning for the walk-off opening victory and the Smittys exploded for six runs in the third and seven in the fourth to take the second contest.
    Hezekiah O’Brien and Gage Beck both doubled, singled, and collected two RBI’s to lead Britton in the opener.  Colton Biel, Corwyn Eye, Mark Folkman, Wynn Mattson, Weston Hastings, and Reeve Knecht had base hits.  Knecht earned the pitching win with two innings of relief.  Hastings had six strikeouts in three innings in a starting role on the mound.
    In game two Biel doubled and singled and knocked in a pair of runs, Crue Jones tripled, and Archer Easthouse, O’Brien, Eye, and Beck each singled.  Three Britton pitchers combined for nine strikeouts with Easthouse fanning five in just one and two-thirds innings.
Sisseton 10
Britton 0
    Sisseton scored four first inning runs and blanked Britton, holding the locals to just three hits.  Biel, Hastings, and Knecht each singled.  Easthouse and Knecht handled the pitching duties.

Clark 8
Britton 4
    Clark broke open a 2-1 contest with four runs in the third frame.  Jones, Eye, Biel, and Mattson each singled.  Easthouse started on the mound and fanned five and Biel itched a couple of innings of relief.

Britton 13-9
Sisseton Gray 1-0
    Britton scored in eight of the nine innings against Sisseton and out-hit the hosts 17-4 to earn the sweep.
    Hastings doubled and singled and had two RBI’s, Mattson singled twice and knocked in two runs, Easthouse doubled and singled, and Biel singled twice to lead the 10-hit attack in the opener.  Jones and Eye added base hits.  Easthouse picked up the pitching win, striking out eight in three innings, and Jones struck out two in an inning of relief.
    In the nightcap Britton blew open a 3-0 game with a five-run third with seven players coming up with base hits.  Jones, Eye, Easthouse, Biel, Folkman, Mattson, and Hastings all singled.  Jones started on the mound and earned the win.
