54TH ANNUAL BUCKHORN RODEO HELD ON WEEKEND
It was beautiful night on Friday for the 54th Annual Buckhorn Rodeo. The crowd was lively as this men’s tie-down roper captured his target during the competition.

    Ideal rodeo weather and an action-packed lineup made for a successful weekend at the 54th Annual Buckhorn Rodeo. 
    Organizers estimated about 1,500 people attended the two-night event, where competitors kept fans on the edge of their seats with exciting rides and runs.
    Bareback riding: Lane Stuwe of Haven, first place, 75 points.
    Saddle bronc riding: Easton Eismann of Glenham, first place, 72 points.
    Barrel racing, 33 entries: Sidni Jandreau of Kennebec, first place, 15.49 seconds (won tie-breaker); Shayda Lesmeister of Rozet, Wyo., second, 15.49; Heather Bosse of Cogswell, N.D., third, 15.73; Adalyn Mielke of Little Falls, Minn., fourth, 15.76; Alexis Promersberg of Littlefork, Minn., fifth, 15.95; Tracy Boll of Bowman, N.D., sixth, 46.12.
    Bull riding: Wesley Pulak of Pierz, Minn., and Coy Lawrence of Rosholt, tied for first place, 76 points.
    Calf roping: Dakota Locken of Randall, Minn., first, 13.65 seconds; Jack Saliegna of Miller, second, 20.47; Jeff Grill of Mitchell, third, 22.50; Matt Nelson of Colman, fourth, 23.50.
    Ladies breakaway roping, 30 entries: Raelynn Johnson of Brodhead, Wis., first, 1.8 seconds; Morgan Lee of Rhame, N.D., second, 2.2; Charley Heier of Herman, Neb., third, 2.8; Kaeley Hutchison of Rozet, Wyo., fourth, 3.1; Jenna Hume of Orfordville, Wis., fifth, 3.4; Tracy Boll of Bowman, N.D., and Elle Goehring of Parkston, tied for sixth, 4.1.
    Senior men’s breakaway roping: Blaine Carey of Huron, first, 2.6 seconds; Darren Lammers of Chancellor, second, 2.7; Marty Jandreau of Kennebec, third, 3.1; Bogie Webb of Volin, fourth, 3.9; Todd Rose of Volga, fifth, 4.8.
    Steer wrestling: Justin Boll of Bowman, N.D., first, 6.9 seconds; Sterling Lee of Rhame, N.D., second, 10.8; Carter Hutchison of Rozet, Wyo., third, 17.01.    
    Mixed team roping: Sidni Johnson and Travis Johnson of Sisseton, first, 8.3 seconds; Tracy Boll and Justin Boll of Bowman, N.D., second, 17.1.
    Team roping:Jack Saienga of Miller and Mason Hunter of Huron, first, 9.5 seconds; Talon Larson of Gillette, Wyo., and Casper Hammerstrom of New Underwood, second, 10.9; Matt Nelson of Colman and Lee Sivertson of Ree Heights, third, 13.0; Sidney Johnson and Travis Johnson of Sisseton, fourth, 13.3; Jase Mousel and Jack Mousel of Colman, fifth, 17.6.
    The kids got in on the action with the stick horse and sack races. Jr. Stick Horse ages 3-4 winners: Friday- Riggin Smith, Saturday- Anna Magnuson; Sr. Stick Horse ages 5-6 winners: Friday- Kimber Waytassek, Saturday- Kimber Waytassek. Junior Sack race ages 7-8 winners: Friday- Remi Strege, Saturday- Adeline Drake; Senior Sack 9-10 winners: Friday- Harper,  Saturday- Adlie Waytassek
    Gun drawing winners included Robert Lien, Greg Knebel, Judi Schultz, Ron Wegleitner, Dorn Malpert, Kirby Stenvold, Andrew Burdette, and John Olson.
    Angie Hannasch won the fireworks bundle.
