From garages and shops to basements and commercial spaces, Tyler and Maggie Gefroh are helping customers transform ordinary concrete floors into durable, attractive surfaces through their business, T&M Decorative Concrete.
The Britton couple purchased the business last year after an opportunity arose with friends who had owned and operated the company in the Aberdeen area. “It was kind of a joke for a while that I should buy it,” Tyler said. “Then they decided they wanted to move on and sell it, and we thought we could make a go of it.”
Tyler, a 2013 Britton-Hecla High School graduate and Amherst native, and Maggie (Dahme) Gefroh, a 2018 BHHS graduate, have spent most of their lives in the area. While both continue to work full-time jobs and raise a family, they have steadily built T&M Decorative Concrete into a growing side business serving customers throughout northeastern South Dakota. The business specializes in floor coatings, epoxy systems, polishing and decorative concrete finishes for garages, homes, shops and businesses.
“We do durable, high-quality floor coatings that are built to last and handle heavy use while still looking great,” Tyler said. Although Maggie entered the business with no previous experience, Tyler brought a background in construction and concrete work. He also occasionally helped the previous owners on projects before taking over the company.
Earlier this year, Tyler attended a specialized training course in the Twin Cities, where he learned additional coating techniques and applications.
