At State Track Meet
LA SETS NEW SCHOOL MARKS
This Langford Area quartet set school records in both the 400 and 800 relays at the state track meet in Sioux Falls last weekend and brought home a sixth place medal in the 400 event. The 400 record broke their own standard set earlier this season while the 800 mark had stood for 36 years.     Langford Area’s track squad brought home a pair of medals from the Class B state track meet in Sioux Falls held Thursday through Saturday and also set two new school records.
Senior Paytyn Marlow placed seventh in the 100 dash and teamed up with Brooke Dwight, Bailey Dwight, and Lizzie Gustafson to take sixth in the 400 relay, breaking their own school record with a 51.50 clocking.  The same quartet broke a 36-year-old school record in the 800 relay with a time of 1:50.31 and finished 10th.
Other LA state qualifiers for the girls included Marlow, 13th in the 200 dash; Bailey Dwight 19th in the 100 and 22nd in the 200 dashes; Emily Olson 20th in triple jump; and Sophia Rodriguez 24th in the 100 hurdles.
Two boys earned state spots.  Skyler Godel was 15th in the 300 hurdles with a personal best and Julian Rodriguez was 22nd in the 300 hurdles.
“The Lions competed at a high level on the biggest stage,” said LA coach Brian Schuring.  “Proud of everyone that put on a Langford Area uniform at Sioux Falls. It was definitely a big weekend for the girls and their accomplishments.”

LA’s Skyler Godel came up with a personal best in the 300 hurdles at the state meet held in Sioux Falls last weekend and finished 15th in the event.
Langford Area’s Lizzy Gustafson strained for the finish line in the 400 relay at the state track meet and nudged Warner’s Miah Leidholt by four hundredths of a second.  The LA quartet broke their own school record in the event.
