B-H GRAD IN ABERDEEN ART CONTEST

B-H GRAD IN ABERDEEN ART CONTEST
“A Night Out,” a piece created by 2024 Britton-Hecla graduate Emily Jensen, is featured in this year’s Downtown Art Project in Aberdeen. The artwork is displayed at Anytime Fitness in downtown Aberdeen as part of the community showcase highlighting local artists.

A Britton-Hecla School District graduate is being featured in this year’s Downtown Art Project in Aberdeen.
Emily Jensen, a 2024 Britton-Hecla graduate, had her artwork “A Night Out” selected for the Downtown Artwork Display and Contest. Her piece is displayed at Anytime Fitness, located at 321 S. Main St. in Aberdeen.
The Downtown Art Project is coordinated by the Aberdeen Area Community Foundation in partnership with the Aberdeen Area Arts Council and the Knight Aberdeen Fund of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. This marks the sixth year for the project, which aims to beautify downtown Aberdeen with local artwork displayed in business windows.
Artists submitted work based on the theme “People & Places,” with selected pieces reproduced as window clings throughout downtown Aberdeen. A judging panel chose the featured artworks, and cash prizes for first, second and third place will be announced in June. Judges for this year’s contest were Maray Larson, Rachel Rabenberg and Justine Kober.
Community members can also vote for a People’s Choice Award winner through the AACF website. Voting will run from May 21 through June 7, coinciding with the Aberdeen Downtown Association’s Wine Walk on the opening day of voting.
AACF President Heath Johnson said organizers are excited to continue the project for a sixth year and encouraged residents to visit downtown Aberdeen to view the artwork and vote for their favorite pieces.
