LA SENDS EIGHT TO STATE

LA SENDS EIGHT TO STATE
Langford Area state track qualifiers from left to right are Julian Rodriguez, Skyler Godel, Paytyn Marlow, Brooke Dwight, Bailey Dwight, Lizzie Gustafson, Sophia Rodriguez, and Emily Olson.

Langford Area will have six girls and two boys competing in 10 events at the Class B state track meet in Sioux Falls Thursday through Saturday.
Coach Brian Schuring’s squad finished up its regular season with meet at Warner and Webster last week Wednesday and Thursday.
Thinclads needed to finish among the top 24 in their events to earn state spots.
Paytyn Marlow leads the way, qualifying in four events.  The senior ranks sixth in the 100 dash, 12th in the 200 dash, and teamed up with Brooke Dwight, Bailey Dwight, and Lizzie Gustafson to rank eighth in the 400 relay and 23rd in the 800 relay.  Bailey Dwight also qualified for the 100 and 200, ranked 21sdt and 20th respectively.  Emily Olson is 22nd in triple jump and Sophia Rodriguez 24th in the 100 hurdles.
The two LA boys earned a state trip are Julian Rodriguez, 24th in the 110 hurdles, and Skyler Godel, 23rd in the 300 hurdles.
“We had a good track meet at Warner with quality competition,” said LA coach Brian Schuring.  “The Lions had to step up their performances, which was a good primer before the state track meet.  The Webster meet was our last attempt to make sure we were able to get ourselves into the state track meet. The Lions had a really good day with a lot of PR’s, which was needed. Tough to perform at your best with back-to-back meets, however, the Lions did and we were proud of the kids for their efforts!”
Marlow was a double winner at Webster, taking both the 100 and 200 dash titles.  Sophia Rodriguez topped the field in the 100 hurdles.
