Clark avenged a pair of regular season losses and ended Sisseton-Britton-Webster’s high school baseball season with a 6-2 win in the finals of the North Region tournament played in Sisseton last week Wednesday.
The win earned Clark a berth in the Class B state tournament that was played Monday and Tuesday in Brookings.
The Mallards blanked Redfield 8-0 in the first round of regional play before falling to Clark, a team they handily defeated 11-1 and 6-0 in a doubleheader sweep on April 29.  SBW finished its season with a 15-2 mark.
“Overall on the season, we more than met our preseason expectations,” said SBW coach Mark Nelson.  “The improvement all these boys showed throughout the season was real.  Thank you to all the parents, ballpark workers in both communities, Michael at B103, Doug at the newspaper, and to all coaches who helped make our team’s year a success. Special thanks to Leigh Wallenstein who more than helped coach this team this season.”
Four SBW players – Ben Suther, Colton Chapin, Levin Nelson, and Rylan Anderson - were named to the All-Region Team.  Nelson was also selected as a South Dakota High School Baseball Association second team All-State player.
