Freshman Carter Nelson of Britton-Hecla won the discus and placed seventh in the shot put at Sisseton on Friday.

The Langford Area track squad competed in a pair of meets in the past week, traveling to Milbank last week Tuesday and Sisseton on Friday.
This week the LA tracksters competed at the Lake Region Conference meet yesterday (Tuesday) in Ipswich and travels to Warner on Monday.
Paytyn Marlow was the only individual winner for LA, continuing her dominance in the sprints by winning the 100 and 200 dashes at both Milbank and Sisseton.
“We had a pretty good day at Milbank, despite the cold and winds,” said LA coach Brian Schuring.  “We had to be strong mentally to keep our spirits high and keep ourselves from being too cold.  Credit to the team for performing well and getting more PR’s.  At Sisseton we scored some good points with a limited amount of athletes. We didn’t run any relays, so some kids were able to try new events.”
LA currently ranks among the top 24 in Class B in seven events.  At the conclusion of the regular season the top 24 in each event will qualify for the state meet.
Marlow leads the way at seventh in the 100 dash, 13th in the 200 dash, 18th in long jump, and she has teamed up with Brooke Dwight, Bailey Dwight, and Lizzie Gustafson to rank seventh in the 400 relay and 24th in the 800 relay.  Sophia Rodriguez is 24th in the 100 hurdles and Skyler Godel holds down the 18th spot in the 3200 hurdles.
