GROW South Dakota has received a $17,500 grant from First Savings Bank and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines (FHLB Des Moines) through the Member Impact Fund.
The matching grant program supports affordable housing and community development efforts across Alaska, South Dakota, Guam and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.
Marcia Erickson, chief executive officer of GROW South Dakota, said the funding will help expand housing and economic opportunities in the region. “This funding deepens our partnership with First Savings Bank and enhances our ability to expand housing and economic opportunities,” she said. “Together, we are providing financial resources that lead to stronger, more vibrant communities.”
“This partnership allows us to continue building a stronger, more resilient Sisseton,” said Scott Sommers, market president for First Savings Bank in Sisseton. “By expanding housing resources and supporting financial wellbeing, we’re helping our community grow together.”
“Supporting the communities we call home is central to who we are at First Savings Bank,” said Brian Rabenberg, market president for First Savings Bank in Britton, Hecla and Veblen. “Partnering with GROW South Dakota helps us extend that commitment by supporting local families, businesses and ag producers.”
The Member Impact Fund provides matching grants to nonprofit and government entities focused on affordable housing, workforce development, financial literacy and other community needs.

Poll: TEACHER PAY OKAY?South Dakota ranks 46th in the nation in average teacher pay, according to a new report from the National Education Association, with the state’s average salary at $58,486 for the 2024–25 school year. While that reflects a 3.8% increase from the previous year, education advocates note recent funding increases may not fully keep pace with inflation or long-term salary needs. Do you feel teacher pay in South Dakota is adequate, or should it be raised?
