The Britton-Hecla track squad had a busy week, competing in the Groton Relays last week Tuesday, traveling to the Legion Relays in Sisseton on Friday, and competing in five events at the Howard Wood Relays in Sioux Falls Friday and Saturday.
This week the local thinclads traveled to Milbank yesterday (Tuesday), Friday they go to Sisseton for a 1 p.m. start, and Tuesday will host the Eastern Coteau Conference meet starting at 1 p.m.
“It was definitely a busy week,” said B-H coach Stephanie Symens. “We, like others, are fighting weather. Hoping to have a couple good meets before state comes along. We continue to post strong times despite the weather not always cooperating. Athletes are trying some new events and are doing well.”
Individual event winners included Abby Lee in the triple jump and long jump in Groton and Chaz Vietor in the high jump in Sisseton. Earning the right to compete in the Howard Wood Relays were Lee in the triple jump, who finished 14th among all classes, Daynika Zuehlke in javelin, Ben Suther in the 400 dash, and the quartet of Suther, Jaxon Zuehlke, Drew Heitmann, and Jack Teveldal in the 1600 and 3200 relays.
