With the close of the petition filing period, Marshall County voters will not see any contested primary races at the county level come the June 2 primary election. Three seats on the Marshall County Commission are up for election, each serving four-year terms. In District 1, incumbent Douglas Medhaug, a Democrat, filed for re-election. District 3 incumbent Jason Bender, a Republican, also filed and will appear unopposed on the primary ballot.
The only commission race featuring multiple candidates is in District 5, where Jerry Burger, a Democrat, and Timothy Dahme, a Republican, have filed and will compete in the general election in November. Incumbent Lynda Luttrell did not seek re-election.
Several county offices will also appear on the ballot without primary opposition. Auditor Megan Biel, an Independent, filed for another term, as did Sheriff Samuel Swanson and Register of Deeds Kalissa Stelzer, both Independents.
In addition, several Republican precinct committeemen and committeewomen and a state convention delegate filed. Though unopposed, these positions are required by law to appear on the ballot.
Those filing include Jayden Bender for delegate to the state convention; Erik Peterson for Precinct A3 committeeman; Darian Kilker for Precinct A6 committeeman; Mason Kilker for Precinct A8 committeeman; and Victor Rapkoch for Precinct A9 committeeman.
Committeewomen candidates include Taryn Peterson for Precinct A3, Morgan Kilker for Precinct A8 and Mary Rapkoch for Precinct A9
