CITY, SCHOOL BOARD ELECTIONS ON TAP IN JUNE

CITY, SCHOOL BOARD ELECTIONS ON TAP IN JUNE

The petition period for most local elections has ended, setting the stage for several contested races across the area, including seats on the Britton City Council, Langford Board of Trustees, and Britton-Hecla School District.
In Britton, Ward 1 will see Kirk Greeno running for a one-year term and Jerome Marlow running for a two-year term. Incumbent Lindsey Kimber did not submit a petition, so no election will be held for her seat. In Ward 2, Phil Pruitt and Torrey Jones are both running for a two-year term, creating a contested race, while incumbent Norman Mack is running unopposed for a one-year term. Ward 3 will have an election between James Lang and Roger Cease for a two-year term. Incumbent Tim Dahme did not submit a petition.
In other municipalities, Langford voters will choose between incumbent Orrie Jesz and challenger Micah Small for a three-year trustee seat on June 2. In Lake City, no petitions were submitted for trustee Marty Anderson’s seat. In Eden, incumbent Chad Fagerland filed to run unopposed. Veblen had no petitions submitted for council seats in Wards I through III or for the mayor’s office.
In Pierpont, Ian Bertsch submitted a petition for the seat held by Steve Cameron. In Claremont, incumbents Frank Rasmussen and Jason Spencer filed petitions to retain their three-year terms.
For school boards, the Langford Area School Board will have incumbents Fallon Deutsch and Morgan Holler running unopposed for three-year terms. The Britton-Hecla School Board will have six candidates vying for three-year terms, including incumbents Angela Grupe and Heather Landreth along with Jeff Christenson, Amy Jo Vietor, Jeanne Ahlgren, and Heidi Eimers. Incumbent Kelli Erickson did not submit a petition. The election for these seats will be held June 2.
Voter registration for the primary election ends May 18, with absentee voting starting April 17. Under House Bill 1130, all municipal and school district elections are held alongside the primary or general election. County elections will be updated next week, as their petition period extends later.
