LA CAGERS TAKE STRIDES

Eight Seniors On This Year's Lions Roster
LA CAGERS TAKE STRIDES
LA’s Graydon Hurley sent this ball toward the hoop on a drive to the basket. Hurley was one of eight seniors on this year’s roster.

The record didn’t change from a year ago, but Langford Area boys basketball coach Brian Schuring felt his club took some strides this season.
The Lions finished with a 3-18 mark for the second straight year, falling to Wilmot by three points in a Region 1B play-in game.
“The boys fought hard all season,” said Schuring.  “Our record may not have been what we wanted it to be, however, we were more competitive this year. These boys showed a lot of character and determination to play hard each practice and games. Our senior boys were really good leaders and hopefully our younger players will carry on with this quality. We were blessed to have the opportunity to coach these young men.”
LA will graduate eight seniors from this year’s roster.  They include Kassen Keough, Graydon Hurley, Dawson Vander Vorst, Bradyn Small, Ethen Olson, Julian Rodriguez, Conner Glines, and Dylan Harmon.
Keough led the Lions in scoring with 432 total points, averaging 20.6 points per outing and joining the career 1,000-point club.  Harmon averaged 6.3 points per game but played only 11 games due to a season-ending injury.  Hurley cracked the century mark with 120 counters (5.7 ave.), Glines averaged five per contest, and freshman Case Reints 4.6.
Olson was LA’s most accurate field goal shooter with at least 30 attempts at 45% and Harmon was right behind at 42%.  Keough was the team’s best three-point shooter, netting 65 from long range and shooting at a 30% clip from beyond the arc.  He also was the top free throw shooter, hitting 79-99 for 80%.  Reints ranked second on treys with 20, Hurley netted 19, and freshman Eli Samson laced 13, hitting 27% of his attempts.  Reints also was second in free throw percentage at 67%.
Glines was the team’s top rebounder with 150 for the season (7.8 ave.).  Keough pulled down 103 boards (4.9 ave), and Harmon, despite playing only 11 games, ranked third with 74 (6.7 ave.).  Harmon and Keough led the team with 11 blocked shots apiece, while Keough was the team’s assist (2.2 ave.) and steal (2.1 ave.).
