Eight Britton youth wrestlers qualified for the state wrestling tournament scheduled for Sioux Falls Friday through Sunday.
The top three wrestlers in each of the younger brackets qualified for state and the top four in the 12U and 14U divisions advanced. Over 600 wrestlers competed in 854 matches and over 2,000 fans attended the Region 4 tournament held in Britton on Saturday.
First place finishers for the young Braves were Jordan Gutierrez in the 12U division and Kenzlie Holland in the girls 8U bracket. Placing second was Corbin Dawson in 14U and Emsley Eimers in the girls 10U. Third placers included Kash Holland, 6U; Keegan Collins-Miles, 8U; and Crue Jones, 12U. Corven Schmieg placed fourth in 12U.
Onyx Stelzer also was a regional placer, taking fourth in the 6U bracket.
Other local regional qualifiers that competed in the event were Benson Warner, Grayson Marzolf, Brooks Taylor, Briggs Hagen, Tripp Hagen, Oliver Suther, Jaxon Guy, Ryker Guy, and Colton
