Langford Area rallied from seven points down in the final quarter but couldn’t quite get over the hump in a 53-50 Region 1B regional play-in boys basketball loss to Wilmot on Monday.
Seventh seed Wilmot took a 9-12 record against #2 Leola-Frederick last night Tuesday in quarterfinal play.  Ninth seed Waverly-South Shore stopped eight seed Tiospa Zina 55-20 in the other play-in game and played top-seeded Aberdeen Christian last night Tuesday.  Semifinal games will be played Friday to determine the two Region 1B SoDak 16 qualifiers with Sodak 16 games set for Tuesday to determine state tournament entrants.
“It’s always tough to lose a game that ends your season,” said LA coach Brian Schuring.  “The boys, like always, played hard and never gave up in this game. That’s what I love about these young men and their commitment to their team.”
LA’s Kassen Keough finished his prep career with 13 points, six rebounds, five assists, eight steals, and a pair of blocked shots.  Senior Conner Glines added 13 counters and nine boards, freshman Case Reints had four assists, and senior Ethen Olson blocked two shots.  Other seniors wrapping up their high school careers are Graydon Hurley, Dawson Vander Vorst, Bradyn Small, Julian Rodriguez, and Dylan Harmon.
The Lions finished regular season play with a 75-50 win over Waverly-South Shore and were 3-18 record for the year.

Langford Area put an end to a nine-game slide and came up with its biggest offensive output of the year to end regular season play on Friday.
The Lions led 17-9 after one period, padded that margin to 38-23 at halftime, and went up by 25 after three quarters to put the game away and finish regular season play with a 3-17 mark.
“We played really well against W/SS, which was great to see,” said Schuring.  “The boys were really locked in and we played well for four quarters. Playing the way we did and getting the “W” was good for the seniors.”
Kassen Keough had a big night for the Lions with 39 points, incouding four treys, nine rebounds, three assists, and three steals.  Case Reints added 16 counters and Eli Samson netted nine, along with five rebounds.  Conner Glines grabbed eight boards, Samson had three assists and Graydon Hurley came up with a pair of steals.
