BACK-TO-BACK FOR LADY BRAVES

BACK-TO-BACK FOR LADY BRAVES
Britton-Hecla’s Chellon Pruitt broke through a double-team and looked for a teammate in recent girls basketball play. Pruitt has set four school rebounding records this season.

The Britton-Hecla girls basketball team played unusual back-to-back games against Groton Area this week, finishing its regular season with a 60-28 loss to the Tigers and meeting them again in first round play of the Region 1A tournament last night Tuesday (results to be published in next week’s Journal).
The winner of Tuesday’s game will play the Milbank-Redfield winner in Thursday’s semifinals to determine a SoDak 16 berth.
Britton-Hecla met second ranked Hamlin last week Tuesday, falling 67-19.
“We played three out of the top nine teams in the state in the last week,” said B-H coach Terry Nelson.  “Those teams play tough defense and can take you out of your offense.  We just really struggled to score.”
Groton Area 60
Britton-Hecla 28
Groton Area jumped out to a 32-12 halftime lead and padded that margin in the second two quarters.
Maddi Micko led the Lady Braves with nine points and Daynika Zuehlke added seven.  Chellon Pruitt pulled down eight rebounds and Karlie Zuehlke grabbed six.
Hamlin 67
Britton-Hecla 19
Hamlin jumped out to a 17-point halftime lead and put the game away by outscoring Britton-Hecla 27-3 in the third period.
Chellon Pruitt led the Lady Braves with eight points.
