    Britton-Hecla split a pair of contests in the past week, stopping Waverly-South Shore 61-44 on Monday but falling to third-ranked Clark-Willow Lake 64-29 last week Tuesday in boys’ basketball play.
    The Braves took a 12-6 record into a game with fourth-ranked Hamlin last night Tuesday in boys basketball play.  Coach Troy Knecht’s crew will wrap up regular season action in a twin bill with the girls’ squad at Groton Area on Friday. Region 1A tournament play begins on Monday, March 2.

    Britton-Hecla used a 21-point third quarter to boost an 11-point halftime lead to 21 after three periods to take charge against Waverly-South Shore.
    Chaz Vietor led a balanced Braves’ attack with 17 points, Jaxon Zuehlke added 14, Ben Folkman 11, and Will Richter 10.

    Britton-Hecla trailed third-ranked Clark-Willow Lake by just 12 points at halftime but the Cyclones outscored the Braves 36-13 in the final two periods.
    Will Richter led B-H with 10 points.
    “We hung in there for the first half and I thought really challenged them on defense, but ultimately they destroyed us on the boards and made it hard for us to score,” noted Knecht.  “They’ve got a tremendous amount of length and athletic ability.  Plus they’ve got some really good ballplayers.  I was happy with our effort, but games like this make you realize that we still have work to do if we want to be a top program in the region.”
