KNEBEL SCHOLARS HONORED

KNEBEL SCHOLARS HONORED
The 2026 John Knebel Memorial Scholarship at Lake Area Technical College was awarded to Isabelle Skarnagel of Claire City and the John Knebel Memorial Ag Scholarship was awarded to Caden Phelps of Arlington, SD. Pictured left to right are LeRon Knebel (John’s father), Isabelle Skarnagel, Caden Phelps, and Kayla Kirchmeier (John’s Niece).

Last week, LeRon Knebel of Eden and granddaughter Kayla Kirchmeier of Webster attended the Lake Area College scholarship banquet in Watertown. They presented an ag scholarship to Caden Phelps of Arlington and a memorial scholarship to Isabelle Skarnagel of Claire City. Both scholarships are in memory of the late John Knebel.
John Knebel was an Eden-Area farmer/rancher who gained a great knowledge of agriculture during his time at Lake Area in the early 1990s. He dedicated his life to bettering the community and environment around him. He served on many boards including the Marshall County Conservation Board. John always encouraged and assisted young farmers. He was tragically killed in a farm-related accident in August of 2018. His memory lives on in many ways, including the Lake Area College scholarship.
