After a fast start to its season the Langford Area girls basketball squad has endured some tough times in recent weeks.
The Lady Lions, now 8-7, won seven of their first eight games to kick off their campaign but have now lost six of their last seven.  Coach Michael Alberts’ club dropped a 64-24 decision to Waubay-Summit on Monday, fell to Northwestern 45-36 on Friday, and lost to Warner 52-43 last week Tuesday.
This week LA will play at cross-county rival Britton-Hecla on Friday (JV boys, JV girls 5 p.m., varsity girls, varsity boys to follow), travels to Wilmot for a doubleheader on Saturday (JV girls 1 p.m., JV boys, varsity girls, varsity boys to follow), and hosts Tiospa Zina on Tuesday (JV 6:30 p.m., varsity to follow).
“We have played the top teams in our region the last couple of weeks,” said Alberts.  “Most games we have been competitive, but now we need to raise our level of play and pick up our intensity on both ends of the court. We have kind of lost our consistency that we had at the beginning of the year and are looking at getting back to that as we are winding our regular season down. Getting everyone on the same page on both ends of the court is our goal for the rest of our season.”
