MEDHAUG TAKES FINANCE OFFICER JOB

    The Britton City Council held a special meeting Monday evening, with the agenda consisting solely of an executive session for personnel purposes. Following the closed session, council members voted to offer the city finance officer position to Jacki Medhaug at a salary of $68,000 per year, effective immediately. Medhaug has served as the city’s assistant finance officer for several years.
    The council also approved a $40-per-hour consulting rate for outgoing finance officer Jennifer Athey to assist with training during the transition. The council’s next regular meeting is scheduled for Feb. 9.

South Dakota voters will decide in November on a proposed constitutional amendment that would end the state’s expanded Medicaid coverage if the federal government’s share of funding for the expansion falls below 90%. The expansion, approved by voters in 2022, provides Medicaid eligibility to certain adults ages 19 to 64 with incomes up to the federal limit established by the constitutional amendment.
