The Langford Area girls basketball team lost two straight games in the past week to North Central and Waverly-South Shore to run its losing streak to three but bounced back with a victory over Tri-State.
North Central used a big second quarter to post a 56-40 win over the Lady Lions on Saturday and LA fell to Waverly-South Shore 57-40 on Thursday before tripping Tri-State 64-41 on Monday.
“It has been a tough week to get in a rhythm with not being able to practice before games because of the weather,” said LA coach Michael Alberts. “The last few games, we have had a hard time putting the ball in the basket but defensively, we have really been stressing boxing out and rebounding better. We also need to do a better job of not fouling and sending teams to the free throw line.
“In our game against Tri-State, we took a step in the right direction in the things we have really been struggling on. Our girls finished better and we definitely rebounded and played better defense. We still need to keep improving in those areas, but it was a great step for our girls.”
Alberts’ squad stood at 8-4 heading into its contest against Warner last night Tuesday. Northwestern comes to town for a twin bill with the boys’ team on Friday (JV girls 4 p.m., JV boys, varsity girls, varsity boys to follow), and the girls travel to Waubay to meet Waubay-Summit on Monday (JV girls 4 p.m., JV boys, varsity girls, varsity boys to follow).
