Britton-Hecla’s girls basketball team picked up a win in two outings during the past week and stands at 3-8 for the season.
Coach Terry Nelson’s crew put together some big runs to roll past Wilmot 59-28 last week Tuesday and fell to Waubay-Summit 48-22 on Monday.
This week the Lady Braves host Warner on Thursday (JV 6 p.m., varsity to follow) and Leola-Frederick comes to town for a doubleheader with the boys’ squad on Tuesday (C boys 4 p.m., JV boys, girls 5 p.m., varsity girls, varsity boys to follow).

Britton-Hecla used a 27-1 run in the second and third quarters to derail Wilmot.
Things did not begin well for the Lady Braves as the visitors hit a pair of treys in the opening period and led 17-9 with 2:40 to play in the first half. But Nelson’s crew changed things in a hurry with a 15-0 run in under two minutes to lead 24-17 at intermission.
Daynika Zuehlke, who had a season-high 17 points, continued that momentum with a fielder to open the second half. Karlie Zuehlke put in a follow shot and a free throw rebound, Maddi Micko netted a trey from the top of the key, and Daynika Zuehlke hit back-to-back buckets to complete the big run and take a 36-18 lead.
Wilmot finally hit its first field goal in seven minutes and kept a glimmer of hope alive, trailing 36-22 with 2:51 still remaining in the third quarter. But the Lady Braves quickly shut that door, cranking out another big 23-4 run.
Daynika Zuehlke handed out five assists and had 10 steals to go with her game-high 17 points. Chellon Pruitt had 10 points and a whopping 21 rebounds, Micko added 10 counters and six assists. Karli Zuehlke grabbed 13 boards and drew a pair of offensive charges, tying the game record set by Sterling Brassfield..

Waubay-Summit led just 8-6 after the opening period but then outscored the Lady Braves 25-4 in the second quarter to take control and win its eighth game in nine starts.
Chellon Pruitt netted 11 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Britton-Hecla. Maddi Micko came up with five steals.
Karli Zuehlke drew her fifth offensive charging foul of the season to break Sterling Brassfield’s school record of four.
The Lady Braves also limited Waubay-Summit standout Addison Heinje to 10 points with Micko and Paityn Erickson drawing that defensive duty. Heinje had scored 103 points in games against B-H the last three seasons.
