Amherst native Dr. Kelly B. Tisher, DVM, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Western Stock Show Association, the governing body of the National Western Stock Show.
Tisher, a 1985 graduate of Britton High School, was raised on a farm near Amherst where his family raised beef cattle and worked with horses. He said those early experiences played a role in shaping his career in veterinary medicine and the livestock industry.
After graduating from Britton, Tisher earned a bachelor’s degree in animal science from South Dakota State University and later received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Minnesota, graduating with high honors.
Tisher is the owner and managing partner of Littleton Equine Medical Center in Colorado, where he has practiced since 1994. The clinic focuses on equine and sports medicine and serves clients throughout the region.
In addition to his veterinary practice, Tisher has held leadership roles with several equine and agricultural organizations. He currently serves as vice president of Round Up Riders of the Rockies, president of BGOSI, a nonprofit focused on equine education and public outreach, and is a member of the National Western Stock Show Horse Executive Committee. He also serves as president of the Singletree Equestrian Ownership Group, which owns the Colorado Horse Park.
The Western Stock Show Association oversees the operations and long-term direction of the National Western Stock Show, one of the country’s largest and longest-running livestock exhibitions.
Tisher and his wife, Elizabeth, live in Colorado.
