The Marshall County Commission completed its annual reorganizational business during its first meeting of 2026, held Tuesday morning.
Commissioners reappointed Matt Schuller as board chair and Doug Medhaug as vice chair. All commissioners will retain their current committee assignments and board seats, which will be detailed in the official minutes to be published next week.
Several county officials were also reappointed, including Dustin Hofland as highway superintendent, Katrina Johnson as director of equalization, and Dave Daberkow as county veterans service officer.
The commission approved a 3 percent wage increase for all county employees. Additional details related to the raise will be included in next week’s meeting minutes.
During highway department discussion, Hofland reported that the county’s Bridge Improvement Grant application has been submitted to the state. They also discussed the county’s wheel tax, noting the recent increase is expected to generate approximately $40,000 in additional revenue annually. While not a significant funding source on its own, it was noted that the increase helps strengthen the county’s position when applying for grant funding.
