Langford Area ran into a buzzsaw in its boys basketball season opener at Leola-Frederick on Saturday afternoon, dropping a 63-33 decision.
The Titans outscored the Lions 19-4 in the opening period, tacked on 24 more points in the second stanza to grab a 43-15 halftime lead, and cruised to the 30-point win. LA hosted Estelline-Hendricks for its home opener last night Tuesday.
This week Ipswich comes to town on Thursday and Hitchcock-Tulare is in Langford for a boys/girls twin bill on Saturday (JV boys 1 p.m., followed by JV girls, varsity boys, varsity girls).
Kassen Keough led the Lions with 15 points, three rebounds, and a pair of steals. Conner Glines added three steals and Eli Samson grabbed three boards.
“Playing a team like Leola-Frederick in your opening game can really let you know what you need to work on,” said LA coach Brian Schuring. L-F is a physical team that likes to get you off balance and make you rush and get out of control. We fought hard and we know that we can play better. We need to make sure that our defense and rebounding is always there, and our offense needs to execute better.”
