Marshall County Healthcare Center (MCHC) in Britton has been honored with a 2025 Performance Leadership Award, recognizing the facility’s excellence in both quality and patient perspective. The award, compiled by The Chartis Center for Rural Health, places MCHC in the top quartile of rural hospitals nationwide in these key areas.
MCHC CEO Nick Fosness said the recognition reflects the hard work and dedication of the local healthcare team. “We are proud of this recognition from both the quality and patient perspective categories,” Fosness said. “We pride ourselves in high quality and work hard to maintain a positive relationship with our patients!”
The Performance Leadership Awards are based on data from the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX®, a nationally used framework that evaluates rural hospitals in categories that directly affect patient care and hospital operations.
Avera Health leaders also celebrated the achievement, noting the strength of rural care across the region. “Avera excels at rural health care… We’re proud of the hardworking teams at these hospitals and their dedication and commitment each and every day,” said Kevin Post, DO, Chief Medical Officer of Avera Health.
MCHC’s recognition highlights the ongoing efforts of the Britton facility to provide top-tier, patient-centered care close to home—an accomplishment Fosness credits to the staff’s commitment to serving the community.
The award was announced in conjunction with National Rural Health Day.
