The Britton-Hecla High School oral interpretation team qualified six entries for the State Oral Interpretation Festival in Watertown December 5th and 6th.  Senior Paisley Bray and Junior Carter Chapin will both be triple entered for the final competition of the season.  Bray won poetry and teamed up with Chapin to win the duet category.  Chapin also qualified in storytelling.  Their third state entry will be reader’s theatre with Amelia Ingvalson completing the group.  Baylee Bender also moved on with her oratory, and Charles Schuller earned a state entry with his humorous selection.  Emily Effling represented BHHS in the serious division.
The team narrowly missed winning the Region IV Class A championship, losing to Great Plains Lutheran by one point.  Coaches Gretchen Christenson and Christina Bosse indicated that the competition was fierce among the eight schools who fielded teams in this region, and they were very proud of how the students performed under pressure.  Only three entries per category can qualify for the state festival.
Christenson noted, “This group of young people has phenomenal talent, earning both the ECC and NEC conference championships earlier in the season.  It’s great to see so many of them extend their season.”
