The Britton Area Chamber of Commerce is inviting the community to celebrate the season with a “Fun, Old-Fashioned Family Christmas” filled with activities throughout December.
“Thankful Thursdays” are going through the end of November on the Britton Area Chamber of Commerce’s Facebook page. Followers are asked to share a picture or comment about a business or service in Britton they are thankful for and why. $25 in Britton Bucks will be given to one lucky winner by random drawing.
Then, staring in December, each Wednesday, the Chamber will have a Facebook post called “Wish List Wednesdays.” Followers share a picture or comment of items on their wish lists at Britton area businesses. The idea is to bring awareness to the products and services that local businesses offer and promote shopping local. Another $25 in Britton Bucks will be given to a randomly drawn winner who commented.
The holiday fun begins with the Parade of Trees at Marshall County Healthcare Center. Artificial trees can be set up and decorated beginning Nov. 25 and will remain up through Dec. 31. The public is encouraged to vote for their favorite tree, and the winning entry will receive $50 in Britton Bucks. For more information, contact Julie Elsen (605-290-5042) or Todd Landmark (605-880-7475).
Holiday BINGO Cards will be available from Nov. 30-Dec. 20 at participating businesses and the Britton Public Library. Shoppers can fill their BINGO cards to be entered into a drawing for $100 in Britton Bucks. Completed cards should be returned to the Chamber drop box at the library.
The Chamber’s popular Silver Bell Search returns Nov. 29. One clue will be posted each week on the Britton Area Chamber Facebook page. The lucky person who finds the hidden bell will win $50 in Britton Bucks.
Christmas on Parade is set for Saturday, Dec. 6, at 6 p.m. The theme this year is “Fun, Old-Fashioned Family Christmas.” Parade lineup begins at 5:45 p.m. north of Britton-Hecla School on 5th Street. Participants are asked to clean up after any animals in the parade.
The Britton Lions Supper and Silent Auction Extravaganza will take place from 5-7 p.m. at the Britton Event Center. The menu includes soup, chili, hotdogs, nachos, and bars, and a freewill donation will be accepted. Silent auction details can be found on the Chamber’s Facebook page.
Other activities on Dec. 6 include Museum Christmas at the Prayer Rock Museum from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., featuring kids’ crafts, hot cider, and cookies, and Photos with Santa from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at Cups. Guests can take their own photo with a donation of a non-perishable food item for the local food pantry or donate $5 for a professional photo. Cups will also serve free hot cocoa for kids.
The Christmas Variety Show will take the stage at 7 p.m. in the Amacher Auditorium. The event will include performances and a curtain call, along with free cookies and coffee.
Families can also enjoy two performances of the Missoula Children’s Theatre production of “Hercules” — at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 5 and at 4 p.m. on Dec. 6 at the Britton Event Center.
Rounding out the holiday fun, the Strand Theatre will feature the movie “Wicked,” with showings Dec. 5 and 7 at 7:30 p.m. and a special matinee on Dec. 6 at 2 p.m.
