
Awards, medals, premiums and other recognitions were handed out to Marshall County 4-Hers, including traditional club members and Cloverbuds, at the annual Marshall County 4-H Recognition Event held Sunday afternoon at the Marshall County Community Building in Britton.
The 2025 Friend of 4-H awards, sponsored by the Marshall County 4-H Junior Leaders Association, went to Darda Schneider and JaNann Jones for their many years of dedication and service to the 4-H program. Schneider has given 29 years as a club, key, and assistant leader, while Jones has served 23 years as a club leader, sharing her enthusiasm and guidance with countless youth members.
Recipients of the 2025 Danforth “I Dare You” Leadership Award, sponsored by Doug Card, editor and owner of The Marshall County Journal, were Ruth Moeckly and Maddie Biel. Both have demonstrated leadership, initiative, and a commitment to the 4-H motto of “Making the Best Better” through active participation, service, and achievement in their clubs and at the county level.
The Lorne Tilberg Memorial Award, sponsored by Marshall County 4-H Educator Jennifer Ringkob, was presented to Oliver Moeckly. The award recognizes members who exemplify courtesy, cooperation, and citizenship and honors the legacy of former County Extension Educator Lorne Tilberg, who served Marshall County from 1983 to 2003.
Three Marshall County 4-H members were recognized as 2025 graduates. Graduates received a 4-H chair and certificate sponsored by the Marshall County Extension Office and a $50 scholarship sponsored by the Marshall County 4-H Leaders Association. Honorees were Oliver Moeckly, Prairie Pasques, 10 years, and Heather Storbakken, Hillbillie Hustlers, 10 years.
This year’s Outstanding Alumni Award was presented to Chuck Ringkob, who began his 4-H career showing sheep and steers, was active in leadership and livestock judging, and continues to support Marshall County 4-H youth behind the scenes assisting with facilities, transportation, and fair exhibits.
The Bee Lady’s Choice Award, sponsored by Debbie Thorn in memory of her mother, Judy Gulleson, honors projects that promote bees and honey. This year’s winner was Emily Effling for her purple ribbon bee and honey display at Achievement Days and the State Fair. Ruth Moeckly received honorable mention.
Several Marshall County 4-H members received 2025 Accumulative Medals. Agriculture medals were awarded to Ruth Moeckly and Kaylee Carlson. The Consumer and Family Sciences medal went to Kaylee Biel, and Achievement medals were presented to Ruth Moeckly, Baylee Bender, and Emily Effling.
County 4-H club leaders were also honored for their years of service. Barn Buddies leader Tammy Bender received a 2-year certificate. Hillbillie Hustlers leader Kari Feldhaus received a 15-year certificate. Prairie Pasques leaders JaNann Jones and Darda Schneider received 23- and 29-year certificates, respectively. Hills & Valley leaders Kimberly Biel and Jameson Biel each received 11-year certificates, while Judy Guy received a 25-year certificate. Hill Country Muskrats leaders Calee Hagen and Amanda Nordquist were each recognized with 3-year certificates.
