The Langford Area volleyball squad ran into a bunch of strong foes during the past week and dropped five of six matches.
The Lady Lions, now 11-18, fell to Groton Area on Monday and Hitchcock-Tulare last week Tuesday in straight sets and won one of four matches in a tournament at Miller on Saturday. LA junior libero Alex Darling recorded her 1,000th dig of her career in the Groton Area match.
This week Coach Susan Larson’s squad played at Webster Area last night Tuesday and wraps up its regular season at Warner on Monday. Region 1B play begins on Monday, Nov. 3.
Groton Area 25-25-25
LA 9-8-21
Groton Area boosted its season mark to 21-4 with a sweep over the Lady Lions.
“It took us two sets to warm up.... we played well by the third set,” noted Larson. “We just had a rough night on finding our rhythm. We were on defense and in a scramble most of the match and just didn’t convert to offense well.
It was our seniors last home match. They are great teammates and people. Mariah (Tosse) and Paytyn (Marow) have been a great asset to our program and will be missed. We also had a very successful Dig Pink night! Holly Glodrey organized a fantastic basket silent auction to raise money for a local family currently battling cancer.”
