The Britton-Hecla volleyball squad ran into a little tough sledding in the past week, dropping a pair of straight-set decisions to Groton Area and Aberdeen Roncalli after sweeping Waubay-Summit.
Coach Jenna Peters’ squad stands at 11-10 heading into a match at Hamlin on Thursday. The local netters travel to Mellette for the Northwestern Tournament on Saturday and play at Great Plains Lutheran in Watertown on Tuesday.
“The girls played well last week against Waubay-Summit and Roncalli,” said Peters. “There are always things for us to work on, but I’m proud of them! Groton wasn’t a great showing of our potential. The girls came out flat and couldn’t really get fired up. Groton is a really good team but we could’ve played them better. The girls need to find the fire and we need to clean up some things on defense and offense.”
