Britton-Hecla’s volleyball team came out on the short end of a battle at Redfield on Thursday.
The Lady Braves rebounded from a 25-14 opening-set loss with a marathon 35-33 win in set two but dropped the next two sets 25-19, 25-17. Coach Jenna Peters’ squad was 5-5 heading into a match at Waverly-South Shore last night Tuesday.
This week Florence-Henry comes to town for the homecoming match on Thursday. B-H will compete in a tournament at Great Plains Lutheran on Saturday and travels to Sisseton on Tuesday.
“Our focus this week is offense - being aggressive at the net,” noted Peters. “We also are working on blocking and communication. Abby Lee is still out for the next two games with a back injury. We will see if she is able to play for the Great Plains Lutheran tournament on Saturday.”
Redfield had an edge at the net with 43 kills and 26 blocks. Karlie Zuehkle and Brynlee Schmieg led a balanced effort up from for the Lady Braves with nine and eight kills respectively. Daynika Zuehlke added seven and Jaelee Grupe six. Daynika Zuehlke and Grupe both had four aces at the service line, Grupe added 20 assists, and Ava Teveldal came up with 37 digs.
