Coronation will be held Monday, Sept. 22, at 7:00 p.m. by the tennis courts, followed by the burning of the BH.

Britton-Hecla is gearing up for a “heroic” homecoming next week, with this year’s theme celebrating Heroes versus Villains. Festivities will include the crowning of the Homecoming King and Queen, dress-up days, athletic competitions, and a community parade.
Homecoming coronation will take place at 7:00 p.m. Monday, by the tennis courts, followed by the traditional burning of the BH. The public is welcome to attend. King candidates are Bryce Hawkinson, son of Josh Hawkinson and Angela Hawkinson; William Richter, son of BJ and Kyla Richter; and Jaxon Zuehlke, son of Brian and Jill Zuehlke. Queen candidates include Isabel James, daughter of Brian and Carrie James; Ava Teveldal, daughter of Jason and Kelly Teveldal; and Karlie Zuehlke, daughter of Kurt Zuehlke and Nicole Stiegelmeier.
Students can also show their spirit with themed dress-up days: Monday is Pajama Day for K-5 and Adam Sandler Day for grades 6-12; Tuesday is Fake an Injury Day; Wednesday is Western Day; Thursday is Movie Character Day; and Friday is Red Out.
Athletic events during the week include cross country in Clear Lake on Monday; JH and JV football in Langford on Tuesday; away volleyball on Tuesday; volleyball versus Florence/Henry on Thursday; and the football game against Great Plains Lutheran on Friday.
The homecoming parade will kick off Friday at 1 p.m. Community and business floats are free to join. Entries should begin lining up north of First Lutheran Church by 12:45 p.m. The blocks north of the Amacher and the playground are reserved, and entries should face east. The parade will travel west on Main to Vander Horck, then north on 13th Avenue before disbanding. Parade participants will sign a school release waiver at Fifth and Main, with. Jennifer Carlson on hand to assist. Following the parade, school will dismiss for all grades at 1:45 p.m.
