LOCALS STUDENTS ENJOY ECO-ED DAY
Blaze Jones, NRCS Soil Conservationist for Marshall County, talks with seventh graders during Eco Ed Day at Fort Sisseton, where students learned about prairie range and natural resource conservation.

Eco Ed Day was held last Wednesday under sunny autumn skies at Fort Sisseton, where 48 seventh-grade students from Britton-Hecla and Langford Area schools took part in an outdoor classroom focused on natural resources.
Students rotated through sessions led by experts in the field, including Prairie Range with Blaze Jones, NRCS Soil Conservationist for Marshall County; Soils with Matt Hubers of Ducks Unlimited; Forestry with Josh Wagner, Day Co. Conservation District Manager; Water Quality with Cory Zirbel, Glacial Lakes Project Co-Coord; and Wetlands with Laura Hubers, retired U.S. FWS
After a lunch provided by the Marshall County Conservation District, students watched a rainfall simulator demonstration by Shane Jordan and Ryan Forbes of the Brookings Area NRCS Field Office. The program highlighted the importance of soil health and stewardship for future generations.
