MILBANK BLANKS GA GRIDDERS

The Groton Area football squad had a tough night getting much accomplished on the offensive side of the ball and suffered a 19-0 loss to Milbank Area on Friday.
The Tigers, now 1-3, will play at Deuel this Friday.
“We had a tough go of it on offense,” admitted GA boss Shaun Wanner.  “We struggled getting any rhythm going throwing the ball and running the football. Milbank did a good job taking our passing game away and did some things defensively we didn’t see on film. I thought we played well defensively, just gave up a couple big plays. The kids played hard.”
Another challenge awaits the Tigers in Clear Lake this week.  The Cardinals bring a 3-0 record into their homecoming game.
“We’re playing another good team this week,” noted Wanner.  “Deuel had a young team last year and has some very good, skilled kids back. They have lots of team speed and some size on the offensive and defensive line. We can’t give up big plays.  We have a few kids that have some bumps and bruises, but other than that we should be at full strength this week.”
GA just wasn’t able to generate much offense at Milbank.  The Tigers gained just 26 yards on the ground on 23 carries and were 8-15 through the air for 33 yards.  Milbank held a 160-59 total yardage advantage with 77 rushing and 83 via the airways.
Tucker Hardy was credited with 10 tackles and Logan Warrington had nine stops to lead the Tigers’ defensive effort.  Keegan Tracy and Ryder Johnson both came up with a pass interception.
