Britton’s annual Harvest Days celebration is in full swing this week, drawing crowds with a lively mix of new attractions, beloved traditions, and community-centered events.
Festivities kicked off with 4-H Achievement Days earlier in the week and continue through Sunday. One of the new highlights this year was a community meal held Thursday evening from 5:30-8 p.m. at the Britton Event Center, where locals gathered for food, fellowship, and live music from Danger Zone. Sponsored by Buckhorn Rodeo, Smith Haygrinding, and TLzyK Cattle Co., the event raised funds to be reinvested back into the community.
Friday brings one of the biggest traditions—the “Time to Rock” parade at 5:15 p.m., with entries lining up north of the Britton Pool. Afterward, Main Street stays buzzing with a cornhole tournament, dunk tank, and dive-in movie at the Britton Pool. New this year is a fireworks show just after dark east of the baseball complex, presented in honor of Edward Jones financial advisor Tammy Bender’s 25th anniversary.
Live music is a big draw again this year, with Totally Rad performing Friday night on Main Street and Judd Hoos, a regional favorite, taking the stage Saturday at 8:30 p.m. for the weekend’s headline concert.
Saturday offers a full day of family fun. Things get rolling with a new 3-on-3 basketball tournament at 8 a.m. on the Britton-Hecla school playground courts. The Rib Cook-Off starts at 5 p.m. on Main Street, hosted by Marshall County Archery.
One of the weekend’s most entertaining events—the Blind Golf Cart Rodeo—will take place in the Hurley & Associates parking lot. Registration begins at 6:00 p.m. Teams of two will compete as one person drives a golf cart blindfolded while the other shouts directions to navigate the course. Participants must be at least 16 years old. A golf cart will be provided, but bringing your own is encouraged for those planning to get rowdy.
Throughout the day Saturday, there’s something for everyone—Lions pancake feed, sand volleyball, inflatables, vendor fair, food trucks, face painting, a kids’ zone, free swimming, car show, and more.
The celebration winds down on Sunday with a community worship service, another community meal from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Pool Park hosted by Friends of the Britton Public Library, and a Dog Day at the Pool in the afternoon.
